Testimonials

Five years ago, my daughter Mary finished a very successful sixth grade school season. Mary is not tall in stature but had been playing shooting guard on her team due to her lack of ballhandling skills. I was thrilled when I found Coach Martin, a Division I college basketball coach, who was willing to work with my daughter 1-on-1. Mary would listen to Coach Martin where she would no longer take instruction from her father. Coach Martin's ability to get Mary to see where she could be in the next few years as a player was incredible. Coach Martin worked with her on ballhandling and shooting, having seen that her defensive skills were in pretty good shape. She went from being a shooter who could handle the ball when necessary to a real threat on the court and a confident offensive presence. Coach Martin showed us several small changes that made a big difference. She also tapped into the competitive spirit and drive of my daughter to keep her passion for improvement going for these past two years. Mary played in over 60 games this past spring on her travel team—starting at point guard as a seventh grader on an eighth grade team—and was the third leading scorer. Her team played against other elite teams from over 14 other states. From that, she has already received recruiting interest from three Division I schools. She is now a leader on her middle school team and carries the swagger of an elite player. None of this would have been possible without Coach Martin's 1-on-1 skill sessions and game situation refinement.

A few years ago my son Joe committed to wanting to be the best basketball player that he could be—he was an average rising 7th grader. For Christmas I gave him money towards becoming a better player. Through much research, I stumbled upon Coach Martin and after speaking with her for only a short time I had a comfortable and honest feeling that she was the coach to help my son get better. At Joe's first workout I was so impressed with her skill to immediately pick up on Joe's strengths, and yes, his weaknesses too. We choose to do group lessons, so Coach Martin not only picked up on Joe's abilities, but she also easily evaluated the other 3-4 players that were at the workout. During subsequent workouts with Coach Martin, Joe improved in many technical areas such as his shooting form & fundamentals, finishing strong around the basket and ball handling which all led to his ability to better embrace contact from the defense. He became very consistent with his layups and had better lane penetration off of his dribble—she encouraged him to be a ‘scoring’ point guard. After three months of working with Coach Martin, Joe went to try outs and made a very successful AAU team that won many tournaments. His confidence reached a new level that was missing before working with her. I am so thankful for the patience Coach Martin had while working with my son and the skill level & confidence that she instilled into him. If your son or daughter aspires to play basketball at any level, we would recommend Coach Martin.

Our daughter Regan met Coach Martin five years ago at A-Game Sportsplex in Franklin, TN. Coach Martin approached Regan about working on her fundamentals to take her game to the next level. Regan was her team’s leading scorer in middle school so this really got her attention and Regan began to take both group and private lessons.  We were “amazed” with the results! Regan’s game began to get better week after week. Coach Martin tweaked Regan’s shot, taught her how to score in different game situations, what to do to get open without the ball, how to utilize her teammates, improved her speed and quickness and taught her how to bring discipline in every aspect of the game--even when practicing alone.  In addition to her improved fundamentals on offense, Regan significantly improved her basketball IQ and her ability to play pressure man to man defense. Regan now has a tremendous amount of confidence about herself and her game – and we owe it all to Coach Martin.

Private lessons with Coach Martin were well worth the money. She has an exceptional ability to see and correct shooting form, positioning by the basket and instruct in valuable 1-on-1 game moves.  The sessions were focused, disciplined with no nonsense or wasting time.  My son Dylan quickly learned she is the best!  He said she taught him in a way that he could understand ‘why’ to do it a certain way, not just how, so he could really use his new moves in practice & games.  We also give you credit for Dylan's accomplishment with left handed ball handling and layups. It has made a significant difference in his game as well as his confidence level. We did private lessons with Coach Martin for over a year in Franklin, TN until she moved to Columbus, OH and Dylan even asked to have more lessons with her if she is ever in town. We would definitely recommend Coach Martin!

My daughter Ashley began working with Coach Martin when she moved to Columbus in the fall of 2012. Ashley loves basketball and has played since the 4th grade. It took one workout for us to realize how much working with Coach Martin would improve Ashley’s game. Coach Martin is a master at teaching and demonstrating the small but critical details of the game. Ashley has become much better at "creating space" for herself and get open in her practices and games.  She has also gotten much better at reading her defender when coming off screens and when she catches the ball. A small adjustment to Ashley's foul shot has raised her percentage and provided a real confidence boost. Coach Martin can quickly and accurately recognize what a player needs to work on and then builds her instruction around each player's individual needs. Coach Martin delivers her instruction in an honest, direct and supportive manner and I highly recommend Coach Martin to anyone looking to improve their game.
